Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund Completes Third Round of Fundraising

Group has now generated $183,000 to benefit local organizations

Livermore, CA: July 06, 2021

One year after its initial launch, the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund for Covid Relief (TVNF) has completed its third round of funding thanks in part to support from the Rotary Club of Livermore and Workday, bringing its total amount of contributions up to $183,000.

TVNF was able to distribute its third round of funding — worth $63,000 — to its nonprofit beneficiaries as a result of various community donations, which will be used to benefit residents adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

“Raising funds during a pandemic seemed an insurmountable task, but community members and organizations were motivated by the immediate doubling mechanism, allowing for significant, immediate impacts no matter the size of a contribution,” said Pleasanton Human Services Commissioner Susan Hayes, who co-founded the fund with Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance CEO Kathy Young.

The most recent surge of funding was provided by the members of the Rotary Club of Livermore, who donated $9,300 in April as a part of the TVNF Workday Challenge — which featured Workday offering matching donations.

The motivation of matching funds was a consistent theme during the past year, according to Hayes.

“It has been unbelievable to see the community rally around the organizations serving our most vulnerable populations even as their own businesses and personal lives were being impacted by COVID-19,” Hayes said.

Geared toward supporting local residents and groups, the six designated beneficiary organizations for the fund are Axis Community Health, CityServe of the Tri-Valley, Open Heart Kitchen, Senior Support Services of the Tri-Valley, Spectrum Community Services (Meals on Wheels) and Tri-Valley Haven.

Lara Calvert, executive director at Spectrum Community Services, said in a statement that this donation came just in time, as funds were running dry despite a need for their services still being present.

“Last year we served 5,701 meals, so with all three donations, the TVNF funded one full month worth of meals,” Calvert said. “We are still serving 280 meals per month, but will run out of government funds at the end of May.”

Livermore Rotary President Carolyn Siegfried added that their contributions were proposed by former club president Jay Davis and club treasurer Glenn Kubiack, who invited club members to donate what they would have spent on weekly lunches during club meetings.

“Our board of directors voted to support the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Fund for two reasons: the beneficiaries were on the front lines supporting the people we wanted to help, and our funds would be generously matched by the Workday Foundation, doubling our impact,” Siegfried said.

Other groups who have contributed to the fund over the past year include CHEF, Hacienda Helping Hands, John & Marti Sutton, Mony Nop Real Estate Team, Congregation Beth Emek, Gene Morgan Insurance, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Jean King, Local SEO Guide and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Community.

Young says the TVNPA is exploring ways to expand the fund’s reach, with potential outreach opportunities including making grants available for member organizations and supporting groups with immediate needs.
