Philanthropy Institute Top Performing Boards Session #3

TVNPA and Las Positas College are pleased to offer the Top Performing Boards Certificate Program designed for seasoned and novice board members, nonprofit professionals, and anyone interested in forming a board of directors or starting a nonprofit. Appropriate for organizations located anywhere in the United States.
This certification course will be held in three sessions. Attendees may register for a single session or enroll in and attend all three sessions to earn a Certificate of Completion.

Board Business Matters for the 21st Century
If motivation and meetings are the fuel propelling nonprofit organizations forward, then solid business practices comprise the foundation upon which they operate. Established and emerging boards benefit from staying current on trends and new practices in board operations and governance matters.
The Philanthropy Institute welcomes Carolyn Siegfried, Executive Director of the Pedrozzi Foundation, in conversation with Jane Scaccetti, Of Counsel at Armanino LLP to discuss:
- Behind the scene: the business of board operations
- Board president and executive director perspectives and responsibilities
- Board governance: corporate bylaws, articles of incorporation, meeting minutes
- Fiscal responsibility: budgets and grant funding management
- Compliance and reporting: stakeholders, grant funders and federal and state taxation matters
Carolyn Siegfried joined The Pedrozzi Scholarship Foundation as Executive Director in 2013, following management roles at regional nonprofit agencies and an early career in high-tech marketing in the Silicon Valley. She has produced and hosted shows for Tri-Valley Community Television (TV30), and served on several nonprofit boards, including as a founding board member and former Board Chair of the Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance. Ms. Siegfried holds MBA and General Engineering degrees from Santa Clara University and presently sits on the Board of Directors of Axis Community Health.
Ms. Scaccetti is Of Counsel at Amanino LLP and is a recognized trailblazer, governance expert, and SEC audit committee financial expert in the accounting industry. Early in her career, she was named the first woman tax partner at the international firm Laventhol & Horwath, and eventually co-founded and served as CEO at the firm Drucker & Scaccetti before joining Armanino as Firm Ambassador and Chief Storyteller. Ms. Scaccetti’s current corporate board assignments include the board of Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ:PENN) as Audit Committee Chair and on the Compliance Committee; Chairman of the Board at Mathmatica Policy Research. Her current civic and community board memberships include several committee assignments for Temple University, The Philadelphia Foundation, and the Women’s Nonprofit Leadership Initiative.
