TVNPA The Philanthropy Institute Top Performing Boards Program



TVNPA and Las Positas College are pleased to offer the Top Performing Boards Certificate  Program designed for seasoned and novice board members, nonprofit professionals, and anyone interested in forming a board of directors or starting a nonprofit. Appropriate for organizations located anywhere in the United States.

This certification course will be held in three sessions.  Attendees may register for a single session or enroll in and attend all three sessions to earn a Certificate of Completion.

Running Impactful and Inclusive Board Meetings
Presented by Renee Rubin Ross, Ph.D. , Founder, The Ross Collective

Once board members are seated at the table, effective meetings are the vehicles that move an organization forward: it’s where initiatives are launched, progress is measured, and successes are celebrated. Dr. Renee Rubin Ross will take a deep dive into managing productive meetings, from pre-planning through execution.

Participants will learn about:

      • How to design strategic agendas to keep meetings on track
      • Participation and leadership styles to maximize contributions
      • Methods for building relationships among board members
      • How to infuse equity for all in formal and informal meetings

TVNPA Philanthropy Institute Presenter Renee Rubin Ross, Ph.D.

Dr. Ross is a recognized leader on board and organizational development and strategy and the founder of The Ross Collective, a consulting firm that designs and leads inclusive, participatory processes for social sector boards and staff. Committed to racial equity in the nonprofit sector, Dr. Ross guides leaders and organizations in strategic plans and governance processes that deepen social change, racial justice, stakeholder engagement, and community strength. In addition to her consulting work, Dr. Ross is the Director of the Cal State University East Bay Nonprofit Management Certificate Program, where she also teaches Strategic Planning and Board Development, and serves on the board of the Alliance for Nonprofit Management.
